📚 NEC 80% Rule
For continuous loads, the NEC requires panels to be sized at 125% of the load. For non-continuous loads, 100% is acceptable for the calculation, but most electricians use 80% as a practical safety margin.
Example: A 200A panel should not exceed 160A continuous load (80%).
